Improved air quality in the Western Balkans
The programme is a collaboration between UNICEF and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The partnership aims to address air pollution in the region by strengthening the capacities of domestic-level and local self-governments as duty bearers with respect to air quality management, air quality data as well as public dissemination of data. It also elevates the voices of children and youth as rights holders in order to change policy and social norms, and offer platforms for youth to innovate and advocate for green solutions and improved air quality. The project also strengthens the formal climate change and air quality education and supports human capital development for the green economy. The project facilitates a regional network of experts and youth, enabling mutual exchange and inclusive air quality management.
