REPowerEU

REPowerEU¹ is the European Union’s strategic response to the energy crisis, aimed at rapidly reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, strengthening energy security, and accelerating the clean energy transition. It builds on existing EU energy and climate legislation by accelerating the deployment of renewable energy, strengthening energy efficiency measures, supporting market reforms, and enabling the development of hydrogen and other decarbonised gases. Rather than introducing a standalone legal framework, REPowerEU provides the political direction, funding flexibility and implementation urgency that underpin subsequent legislative and market reforms across the energy system.
