Directive 2015/413 facilitating cross-border/boundary exchange of information on road-safety-related traffic offences

Directive (EU) 2015/413 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2015 facilitating cross-border/boundary exchange of information on road-safety-related traffic offences. It grants domestic-level contact points automated access to vehicle registration data to identify individuals suspected of committing road-safety-related traffic offences such as speeding, drink-driving, or failing to use a seat-belt. Its objective is to ensure a high level of protection for all road users across the Union by facilitating the enforcement of sanctions for offences committed with a vehicle registered in a EU Member State other than the EU Member State of the offence.
