Albania: Law on Plant Health

Albania's Law on Plant Health (Law Nr. 40/2025), adopted on 26 June 2025, provides the phytosanitary legal framework for Albania, setting rules on identifying and managing plant health risks from pests and establishing measures to prevent their entry and spread. The law enters into force 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette, with its effects beginning two years after entry into force. It also establishes the basis for multiannual pest surveillance programmes, which are to run for a period of five to ten years.
