Soil Monitoring and Resilience Law, Directive (EU) 2025/2360

The EU Soil Monitoring and Resilience Law, adopted on 12 November 2025, which operationalises the EU Soil Strategy for 2030. It establishes a harmonised definition of soil health, a coherent soil monitoring system, and obligations for sustainable soil management and the remediation of contaminated sites. Alignment with its requirements is a strategic task for the Western Balkans Six, where soil pollution management remains governed by fragmented legislation and most of the Western Balkans Six lack dedicated soil protection laws.
