Serbia: Law on Tax on Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Serbian law introducing a tax on greenhouse gas emissions, published in Official Gazette of Serbia No. 109/2025 and applied from 1 January 2026. It sets a carbon price of EUR 4 per tonne of CO2 and is Serbia's transitional carbon pricing instrument on a trajectory towards alignment with the EU Emissions Trading System. A monitoring, reporting, verification and accreditation system has been established alongside it.
