Europe's Environment 2025
European Environment Agency's Europe's environment 2025 report presents the European Environment Agency's flagship five-yearly assessment of the state of Europe's environment and climate, covering 38 EEA members. It finds that progress is being made on climate change mitigation, pollution reduction and the circular economy, while biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation remain the greatest challenges, with over 80% of protected habitats in poor or bad condition despite an expansion of protected areas over the past decade. The report also assesses climate adaptation, competing pressures on natural resources, and Europe's energy, mobility, industrial, food and building systems, concluding with policy, technological and economic levers for accelerating the sustainability transition.
